Hello everyone!! I was just wondering if anyone in the Jacksonville/Havelock are may have a size 18, MAYBE a size 20 ball gown they want to part with! This will be my first Marine Corps ball EVERRRR!! I have had 11 chances to go, but passed up everone, due to insecurities with my weight, even before I gained my weight, i was insecure, always comparing myself to high school when I won homecoming court!! Well NOW my hubby is thrilled to death to say he has a beautiful date for the ball , the thing is, this date is not prepared..LOL I NEED EVERYTHING!!!! I don't want to spend alot of money on a dress because I will never be in this size again!! But I was wondering if maybe someone could point me in the direction of the perfect gown  :)
Our ball is December 4th so I have a little bit of time, but it will be here before I know it!!

Hope all is well...TODAY is my 8 month mark and I am officially down 139lbs...LOVES IT!!!!

Hey Jami,

I am in the same vote but I'm going to the North Carolina National Ball on November 22nd and I'm thinking I need a 16. Right now I am wearing a 14/16.  I do have a nice semi formal type top and skirt I think is an 18. I don't know how formal you are wanting to go.

Congradulations on your weight loss!

Have a GREAT time at your ball Gretch :)
I would love to go all out at this ball!! This is my first and MAYBE my last, because my hubby is up for medical discussion because of his diabetes and may get forced out of the Marine Corps!! We are saying lots of prayers that he can save his career :(
Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Hey Jami,

first of all, congratulations on your phenominal success! You've come a long way baby!

Secondly, believe it or not, I just might have something that would work for you... I'm just now starting to part with old favorites! I have a couple of ball gowns. One is a beautiful gold gown that drapes wonderfully and laces up the back so that it can accomodate variation in size. The other is an italian black column gown, that has a beautiful chiffon train that flutters as it flows behind you. I also have one that is kind of suited to a fairy princess, if that's your thing ... it's truly a BALL GOWN with the full ball gown style skirt in irridecent in shades of lavendar, rose and teal. Would you like me to take photos to show you what they look like? Also what size shoe do you wear. Some of the dress shoes I bought for these don't fit anymore and I'd be willing to let you use them as well.

I think we are coming down to Jacksonville to spend Thanksgiving with my niece and nephew and I could bring 'em down then unless you want me to ship 'em sooner.

Barb

P.S. I'm 5'6", but all dresses are long and hemmed to be worn with heels.

Barb...THANK YOU :) I would love to see pictures!!! My email addy is [email protected]

They sound beautiful!! Im just afraid at how my body is going to look in a tight dress :(
I am 5'9'' so im not sure about the length, my shoes I guess are an 11, so I am assuming I can't be cinderella with your shoes...LOL

I was wearing a 10 in my shoes, so it depends on if they are open back I think

I have a body slimmer I can let you use as well, but I wore these at or near my heaviest and looked okay. I'll send you a link to some photos of me in those dresses.

Since I wore them with heels, I think you'll be okay. You might need to wear flats, but I think you can make 'em work.

Hugs,

Barb
